“The Judiciary on the Path to European Integration: Between Dignity and Survival” - this was the topic of a meeting between representatives of the judiciary, court staff, the High Council of Justice, the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine, and the State Judicial Administration of Ukraine with Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Taras Kachka. The event took place in the format of a Sunday breakfast. The dialogue was initiated by Denys Maslov, Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Legal Policy.
Vitalii Urkevych, Secretary of the Grand Chamber of the Supreme Court, also took part in the event, which became a platform for establishing open and continuous communication between the executive branch and the entire judicial community on issues of European integration.

During the dialogue, participants discussed the role of judicial independence and adequate institutional support on Ukraine’s path toward European integration, as well as accountability, integrity, and disciplinary responsibility as tools to strengthen the judiciary’s capacity. Speakers particularly focused on current issues related to the verification of the judicial integrity declaration and the mechanism for its improvement, as well as on the importance of predictability and consistency in disciplinary practice and the institutional continuity of judicial governance bodies.

Significant attention was also given to the implementation of the Rule of Law Roadmap in the context of ongoing functional audits within the judicial system.
