“In Your Name: Justice in Wartime”: The President of the Supreme Court attended the premiere screening of a documentary film

19 september 2025, 16:43

President of the Supreme Court Stanislav Kravchenko took part in the premiere screening of the documentary film “In Your Name: Justice in Wartime”, created with the support of the EU Project “Pravo-Justice” in cooperation with the Supreme Court and the High Council of Justice.

The film is based on the stories of judges who continue to administer justice despite the challenges of the full-scale invasion, as well as those who defend Ukraine as members of the Armed Forces.

One of the storylines is dedicated to Leonid Loboiko, a judge of the Supreme Court in the Criminal Cassation Court, who was killed as a result of enemy shelling of the village of Kozacha Lopan in the Kharkiv region on September 28, 2024. His daughter, Olena Dudzenko, one of the film’s protagonists, shared memories of her father and spoke about the circumstances of his tragic death. On that day, as on every weekend, Leonid Mykolaiovych was delivering humanitarian aid to residents of his native village, located near the border with the aggressor state.

After the screening, the SC President shared his impressions of the film, expressing gratitude to the creators and everyone who contributed to the project’s realization. Stanislav Kravchenko emphasized that this is a very important initiative, as it highlights the work of the entire judicial system in the context of war, and therefore deserves the attention of a broad audience for its role in fostering an objective understanding of the conditions in which courts operate today.

The SC President also noted that a significant number of judges and court staff had joined the Ukrainian Defence Forces. It was their conscious choice, which is certainly worthy of respect. At the same time, in times of war, it is difficult to overestimate the importance of uninterrupted administration of justice. Despite numerous security risks, excessive workload and staff shortages, the judicial system manages to properly perform its tasks with the available human and material resources and demonstrate to the world its extraordinary resilience, which it can rightly be proud of.

In conclusion, Stanislav Kravchenko thanked all judges and court staff - those who defend Ukraine on the battlefield and those who ensure the stability of the judiciary in the home front.

You can watch the documentary “In Your Name: Justice in Wartime” this Saturday, 20 September, at 21:00, during the telethon, and later on the YouTube channel of the EU project Pravo-Justice.

The film's premiere screening was also attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to Ukraine Gaël Veyssière, Head of Cooperation at the EU Delegation to Ukraine Stefan Schleuning, and EU Pravo-Justice Project Manager Oksana Tsymbrivska.

In addition, the event featured a panel discussion on "The Future of Ukraine's Judiciary in the Context of War and European Integration: What's Next?", which included Taras Kachka, Vice Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, Iryna Mudra, Deputy Head of the Presidential Office, Denys Maslov, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Legal Policy, Hryhorii Usyk, Chairman of the High Council of Justice, and Maksym Pampura, Acting Head of the State Judicial Administration.
